Ohhhhh….he’s taller than King Abdullah.
April 8, 2009
According to Politico, President Obama’s ridiculous bow to Saudi Arabia’s King Abullah was not really a bow:
An Obama aide, speaking anonymously, claimed, “It wasn’t a bow. He grasped his hand with two hands, and he’s taller than King Abdullah.”
Rubbish. Watch the video:
First, if you watch closely, you’ll see that Obama did not use two hands until after he stood up straight. And even if he’s taller than King Abdullah, why would it have been necessary to lean over so far that the President’s head was at the King’s waistline? Finally, after the supposedly non-bow, the President is clearly seen talking to the King while standing straight up. Why did he need to lean (but not bow!) when he approached but not when he began talking?
And – if you don’t believe your own eyes – consider this: the non-bow took place on April 2. Why didn’t the White House immediately deny it? (By the way, the excuse given above was the best they could come up with? Well, in light of the video….)
